Hump Day Happy: Focus

Focus and creativity are interesting things. Especially when it is generated by a sweet little 3 1/2 year old boy.

I was fascinated while taking this image as I could not believe the determination shown by my son to create a special craft for my husband and I. To the average person you see a prechooler working hard. To me, I see my little premature baby that I needed to shelter for quite sometime, to take to doctor's appointments and administer frequent dosages of medicines. Yet, you would never know these things about him. It was a long road, but he's doing excellent. No, we are doing excellent.

It's a hard job, it requires focus, but it's my job and I would not trade it. I love you little boy!

New Year, New Life: Missy and Brian's New Year's Eve Wedding

What a wonderful way to end 2010 and welcome 2011 as a newly Married Couple. That was the plan for Missy and Brian's Wedding at the gorgeous Hotel DuPont in Wilmington, DE. I had the help of second shooter, Nicole Peterson, with some of her images feature below.
The location was perfect and there were no winter weather surprises. The surprise to me was the awesome shoes selected by Missy for her Wedding, different and celebratory, perfect for New Year's Eve.

Celebration was in the air.

The beautiful bride getting ready with help from her loving mother.
Loved the color palette of her flowers.
Missy was all ready to go, with one last hug for her Mother. A sweet moment.
Now, let's not forget the groom and groomsmen...

Time to start the Ceremony with Missy's big moment, being walked down the aisle by her mother and brother.

Seeing Missy get teary eyed was very sweet. Getting to know Missy and Brian over the past year was a nice experience, making me feel truly part of their Wedding. This really placed a lump in my throat.

Mr. and Mrs. Brian Wainwright...

So it's a New Year and they are beginning their New Life, together.

Hump Day Happy: Home

So many things are going on in this image, yet it all boils down to one thing--love. The love that began for two people, that resulted in two children, that are now a family, that have welcomed a beautiful dog into their home and that all share a bond of love. This image is sweet and warms my heart.

Further, when we shot this session, it was not known of the father's 6-9 month opportunity in Japan. While difficult, he is doing work for his employer there and will see very little of his family. Thankfully we have been blessed with the magic of technology allowing us to contact loved ones easily, when they are several time zones away. We can view them in real time while having a conversation, but nothing replaces that comfort of a hug.

It is my hope that this image carries him through to the warmer months back on the East Coast, back to his loving bond with his family.

Hump Day Happy: Lookout!

How Funny are these two? Quite the pair and a really fun Engagement Shoot. In fact, they just purchased that bike. That day, as in an hour before the Engagement Shoot. To hear their description of placing it on the back of their car and the fear of it falling of was priceless. If this photo indicates anything, so well matched, so funny and I am so looking forward to their March Wedding!

Hump Day Happy: That Three Year Old is in All of Us

She's cute, She's sweet and she just turned three. They are lighting the candles and this little princess is eagerly awaiting the birthday song and to make her special wish. The look on her face here is, well, priceless.

Even though it was many years ago, I do remember my third birthday. Why? My mother made me a Snow White cake that I asked to see every five minutes. I remember they kept it above the refrigerator and my mom had to climb on a chair to reach it (we are not a tall family). Every time I looked at it, it made me so happy. I had such eager anticipation of when my extended family would arrive, sing Happy Birthday to me, I could blow the candles out and make my wish. In fact, when I saw this, I saw the reflection of a little Heather many years ago.

People dread birthdays. However, the one thing I love is the gathering around the table, the candles aglow and celebrating the gift of another wonderful year. Cherish the years, don't dread the numbers, remember your inner three year old.

Puppies Love Snow Too!

Okay, you caught me, I was too busy playing in the snow to post a fun "Hump Day" photo. But when the dog emerged from a snow bank with this on his face, it was too cute to resist. Happy Snow day!

Hump Day Happy: The Sweetest Thing

I caught this image just after the Grandfather of the Bride walked the Mother of the Bride, his daughter, down the aisle. It was touching because you could see the knot forming in his throat, just before, as they were walking down the aisle. As they sat down, he was gathering his composure. Even sweeter, was this smile that his daughter gave him as they sat down.

You wonder what was going through his mind. Of course the joy and pride he had for his granddaughter. Perhaps walking down the aisle with his daughter was reminiscent of a day many years ago. We will never know.

Weddings are such a great occasion, not only for the bride and groom, but for all family and friends to celebrate. I always feel so fortunate to be chosen to capture moments like this.

Randy and Steph = Married!

It was a beautiful Winter Wedding, just before Christmas. There was a nice crisp chill in the air, a brilliant sun and two wonderful people preparing to spend their lives together. As cold as it was, both sides of the bridal party were troopers in weathering the cold and it made for some sweet photos.

Such a sweet moment with the Bride, her mother and sister. Love it!

Love the look on the groom when he sees his bride.

The Toasts were hysterical. Loved hearing how the Bestman and Groom were 'bitter' enemies in early grade school years.

The Brave Bridal Party was fine with the cold during the day and in the evening.

Don't be fooled, Steph turned out to be a cake smasher! However, Randy was sweet and laughed it off.
It was a great day and the dancing went well into the night. A great way to celebrate their new lives together.
